Oyo Police Nab Three Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover ₦31.75m Worth of Stolen Poultry Feeds in Major Breakthrough

 

In a significant win against armed robbery, the Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to a daring highway robbery and recovered goods worth more than Thirty-One Million, Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦31,750,000).

The arrests followed credible intelligence and a tip-off from members of the public regarding an armed robbery incident along the Coca-Cola area in Asejire, Ibadan, where a victim, Ezekiel Inije, was reportedly attacked at gunpoint by a five-man gang.

Leveraging human intelligence, technology, and investigative expertise, police operatives tracked the suspects to the Oko area of Ogbomoso, leading to the apprehension of three members of the syndicate.

The arrested suspects are:

Chigbo Mesoma, 24 years old

Erondu Wisdom, 29 years old

Okechukwu Emmanuel, 25 years old

Items recovered from the suspects include:

A Howo Long truck with Lagos registration number AAA 724 YJ, loaded with approximately 2,000 bags of Karma Agric Chicken Feeds valued at ₦31,750,000

A cutlass

An additional Lagos State vehicle number plate (LSR 339 XW), believed to have been used to disguise the hijacked vehicle

The police statement, issued by the Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, emphasized that the suspects are cooperating with investigators and have confessed to their involvement in the crime. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.

The Oyo State Police Command commended the public for their timely information, which played a crucial role in the operation, and reiterated its commitment to intelligence-driven policing to curb criminal activities in the state.

This arrest underscores the effectiveness of community collaboration with security agencies in tackling armed robbery and related crimes in Oyo State. The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
