 The family of Jason Hughes, a 40-year-old math teacher at North Hall High School, is receiving an outpouring of support after his tragic death during a senior prank that went horribly wrong. A GoFundMe campaign started by his wife has already raised more than $483,000 — far exceeding its original $75,000 goal — to cover immediate expenses and establish a college fund for the couple’s two young sons. Hughes died Friday night after five of his students arrived at his Gainesville home to “toilet paper” the trees as part of a traditional senior prank. According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Hughes — who knew the students were coming and was excitedly waiting outside to catch them — chased after the group when they fled. It had been raining, causing him to slip and fall into the road, where he was struck by a pickup truck driven by 18-year-old student Jayden Ryan Wallace.
