Witchcraft Allegation Turns Deadly: Man Kills Brother in Rivers Community, Escapes Arrest
The tragic incident occurred in Umunwacha village, Ofeh community, Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria, around 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026. A middle-aged man named Nwalozie Chiwendu allegedly attacked and killed his brother (reported as his elder brother in some accounts), Chidiebere Isaiah, using a machete (also referred to as a cutlass). The suspect accused the victim of practicing witchcraft, claiming it was responsible for his own lack of progress, stagnation in life, and failures in business or personal success.
