  The Royal Navy has deployed warship HMS Dragon to the Middle East ahead of a possible multinational mission in the Strait of Hormuz amid continued tensions involving Iran and the United States.  A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Driekoppies, Schoemansdal, Mpumalanga, South Africa for the m8rder of a domestic worker's three-year-old daughter.    The suspect k!lled the toddler allegedly over the fact that the worker didn't clean the home properly.  A federal grand jury has indicted a Nigerian man, Kenneth Godwin, for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, and unauthorized access to a protected computer in furtherance of fraud in the United States.    The United States Attorney Ron Parsons made the announcement in a press statement issued by the Department of Justice on Wednesday, May 6 2026. If convicted, Godwin could face up to 20 years in custody and/or a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.   The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, May 7, convicted a former Minister of Power, Mr. Saleh Mamman, on a 12-count fraud and money laundering charge preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).   The court, in a judgment delivered by Justice James Omotosho, said it was satisfied that the anti-graft agency had successfully established the former Minister’s culpability beyond reasonable doubt.   The court convicted him on all grounds of the charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/273/2024.   Mamman, who served in the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, was found complicit in the illegal diversion of public funds totalling about ₦33.8 billion.   The court found that he made a cash payment of $655,700 (equivalent to ₦200 million) for landed property in Abuja, without recourse to a financial institution.   He was also found guilty of criminal breach of trust in relation to funds released by the federal governm...
