Police in India have registered a m8rder case against a woman for allegedly poisoning and strangling her three children to d3ath before attempting su!cide by consuming phenyl, officials said on Wednesday, May 27.

The incident occurred in Valsad, Gujarat, Ahmedabad after the woman's husband found out about her extramarital affair. 

The woman is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to Valsad deputy superintendent of police (DSP) JK Patel, police received information that a woman had k!lled her children, following which an investigation was launched.

"We got information that a woman has killed her children. Upon investigation, we found that an altercation between the husband and wife followed after he discovered his wife’s affair,” DSP Patel said.

During the probe, it was found that she allegedly administered phenyl to the children and later consumed it herself.

"She had made her children consume phenyl and did the same herself. We found her in an unconscious state and admitted her to a hospital. Further investigation is underway," DSP Patel added
