  A young man named Anthony was f@tally sh0t allegedly by police officers while driving a Lexus and his family is seeking justice.   The man was sh0t today, August 29, along Agip by Ada-George Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.  According to his sister, the v!ctim was chased down by police officers before he was sh9t at.     According to her account, he was still breathing after the sh00ting, but she claims officers pulled him out of the vehicle and removed his gold chain and rings, then left him on the ground in the rain and drove away in his car.   These claims were made by the sister and has not been backed by any of the videos circulating online.   The v!ctim was found on the road by a stranger who rushed him to the hospital but he did not make it.     Subsequently, youths st0rmed the police station to protest.   Videos shared online show a crowd accusing police of being responsible for the shooting.   "Nigerian police, you pe...

  A breastfeeding mother, Zara Muhammad, has been hospitalised with severe burns after she was doused with hot water by her stepmother in the Kofa area of Maiduguri, Borno State.  The incident reportedly followed a verbal argument between the two women on Sunday, August 23. A neighbour, also identified as Zara, said residents were alerted by the victim’s screams.   “I rushed to the house and found the stepmother pressing the girl onto the spilled hot water. Newborn Baby Found Wrapped in Nylon Bag and Abandoned in Shango, Bosso LGA

  On 25 August 2026, at about 1:30 p.m., a newborn baby was found abandoned in a bush in the Shango area of Bosso Local Government Area. The baby had reportedly been wrapped in a nylon bag and left in the bush. The baby was discovered by a young boy who was returning home from an errand. While passing through the area, he heard the cry of a baby coming from the bush. He immediately became concerned and ran home to inform his mother about what he had heard and seen. Upon receiving the information, some women from the community went to the location and found the newborn baby. They carefully picked up the baby and brought the child to safety. The baby was subsequently taken to a hospital for urgent medical attention. At the hospital, the baby was examined and placed on oxygen to assist with breathing and stabilize the child's condition.   The Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the discovery of a headless body in a bush at Shanya Babba village, Maigatari Local Government Area of the state.   The incident was reported at about 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, after residents raised an alarm over the discovery of the body.   According to a police source, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Maigatari Division, immediately led a team of police personnel to the scene following the distress call.   The source said a search of the surrounding area was conducted, during which the severed head of the victim was recovered.   The victim had no means of identification on the body, while the remains had already started decomposing.   The body was subsequently evacuated from the scene and deposited at a hospital for further examination.   Police detectives are currently working to establish the identity of the victim and determine the circumstances surrounding the ...

101-year-old woman released on age grounds after being arrested for selling cannabis in Ogun Daughter Linked Now Arrested

  A 101-year-old woman, Esther Ogunmabo, has been arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly selling cannabis in Ilisan, Ogun State. The centenarian was apprehended on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with 90 grammes of skunk, a form of cannabis, which was reportedly packaged in small quantities for sale. According to the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, Ogunmabo admitted that she sold the substance to people in the community and she became involved in the illicit trade after a fire destroyed her provisions store. “She said one of her daughters, who resides in Lagos, arranges the supply of the substance to her every four days, which she in turn sold in bits,” the NDLEA spokesman said.   Following the development, the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. DNA Tests: 1 in 4 men not biological fathers of their children — Report

  About one in four paternity tests conducted by Smart DNA Nigeria returned negative results in its 2025/2026 reporting period, its latest annual DNA Testing Report has revealed.   The company, in a statement on Sunday, August 24, 2026 in Lagos, said the report confirmed that 23.6 per cent of recorded paternity test outcomes were negative, meaning the tested man was not the biological father. According to the report, the negative paternity outcome declined marginally from 24.0 per cent in the preceding year and 26.1 per cent in 2023.   The report, however, cautioned against interpreting the figure as evidence that one in four Nigerian children is not biologically related to the man regarded as the father.   It stressed that its clients were people who had already developed sufficient doubts or reasons to seek DNA testing.   The report also revealed that 87 per cent of DNA tests conducted were ‘Peace of Mind tests’, representing private, self-initiated tests unde...

  ‎A woman has died while two other persons including the Registrar are receiving treatment following a road accident along the IET New Horizons Road in the Old Airport Quarters area of Minna, Niger State. ‎ ‎The accident reportedly occurred when a vehicle driven by the Registrar of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Mal.
