Tragic Loss: 300-Level Medical Student of University of Ibadan Dies After Ingesting Insecticide
The University of Ibadan (UI) community and the medical fraternity are in mourning following the untimely death of a 300-level medical student who allegedly ingested a poisonous insecticide, leading to his demise on Sunday night. The incident occurred at Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, where a fellow student reportedly discovered the victim on the ground floor, exhibiting severe symptoms including frothing at the mouth and appearing disoriented. Sources close to the matter revealed that the student had admitted to consuming the substance, commonly identified as "Sniper"—a widely available household insecticide—prior to losing consciousness. Emergency response was swift, with the student rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for urgent medical intervention.
