Kano State to Construct Toll Gates at Seven Key Entry Points to Enhance Security and Boost Economy

  The Kano State Government has taken a decisive step to bolster security and generate additional revenue by commencing the construction of toll gates on seven major highways leading into the state capital. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's administration has handed over sites to contractors for the project, which targets key access roads connecting Kano metropolis to neighboring regions and beyond. The selected locations are Daura Road, Katsina Road, Gwarzo Road, Zaria Road, Maiduguri Road, Hadejia Road, and Sa'adatu Rimi Road. According to a statement from the Ministry of Housing Development, the initiative is designed to improve surveillance of incoming vehicular traffic, thereby reinforcing the state's overall security framework. 18-Year-Old Teenager Drowns in Open Water Body in Kano's Ungogo LGA

  An 18-year-old resident, Yusif Malam-Gwani, has tragically lost his life after drowning in an open water body at Bachirawa, Kwanar Madugu, in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the Kano State Fire Service following a distress call received from Sulaiman Abdullahi-Tela. According to a statement issued by the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, and signed by the Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, a rescue team was immediately dispatched from the agency's headquarters to the scene. Despite the rapid deployment, the victim was recovered deceased from the water. His body was subsequently handed over to the Ward Head of Bachirawa Quarters, Jibrin Isah, for burial arrangements and family handover.
