  A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Mallam Dadda’u Mamuda, has been remanded in the custody of the Nigeria Correctional Service over an alleged d3ath threat to police officers.   Mamuda was remanded in prison custody by the Federal High Court sitting in Lafia following his arraignment by the police on a two-count charge on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.   The court, presided over by Justice M.O. Olajuwon, adjourned the matter to Wednesday, June 10, 2026, for a hearing on his bail application.   He had recently threatened to k!ll any police officer involved in the arrest of supporters of his preferred gubernatorial aspirant and former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, over any political dispute.

  An Akure Magistrate’s Court has remanded a 17-year-old secondary school student, Ilesanmi Emmanuel, in a juvenile correctional facility for allegedly assaulting a 13-year-old female schoolmate, leaving her with a severe injury to her right eye. The incident occurred on February 19, 2026, at approximately 7:41 a.m., during a school event at Mooreb Idea Primary and College in Akure, the Ondo State capital. According to police reports, the teenage defendant allegedly struck the victim, Olamide Kadiri, with a metal belt, resulting in serious harm to her eye.   A Magistrate’s Court in Ondo State has remanded a 40-year-old landlady, Nafisat Lateef, in custody over allegations that she poisoned her tenant's three-year-old son following a domestic misunderstanding. The incident occurred on February 4, 2026, around 8:30 a.m., at Omifon in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. According to police reports, Lateef allegedly gave the child, identified as Abdulrasheed, a liquid substance suspected to be poisonous. The act reportedly stemmed from an argument between the suspect and the child's mother, Rofiyat (also spelled Rofiat), aged 32, who is Lateef's tenant. The mother reported the matter to the Odigbo Police Division on February 5, 2026. Police recovered the alleged poisonous substance during investigations, and the child was rushed to a hospital for treatment, where he received medical attention.
