  Oganji said he spotted the woman on Monday morning, July 13, 2026 at Sharp Corner junction in Mararaba, Nasarawa State.    The incident left him disturbed and wondering what kind of a man would impregnate a mentally challenged woman.    "MEN! If you’re familiar with the Sharp Corner junction here in Mararaba, then you should know this woman,” he wrote.   "This morning, I saw her at the junction, and to my surprise, I noticed she was pregnant. From the look of things, she should be about six or seven months gone.   "I kept wondering, what kind of man, in his right mind, would do such a thing to this woman?    “It just doesn’t make any sense to me. So, what happens after she gives birth? Who will take care of her and the baby? I’m not even sure she can identify the person responsible. It’s just so sad.”

  The Ondo State Police Command has uncovered and foiled a staged kidnapping incident, leading to the arrest of the purported victim and one of his accomplices in Akure.    A statement from the police says that on July 5, one Mrs. Iyabo of Oda Road, Akure, reported to the Police that her 33-year-old son, Olawale Sikiru, of St. Luke Street, Akure, had allegedly been k!dnapped while travelling to Igbara-Oke for work by unknown persons.   Following the report, the Command says it immediately commenced a coordinated investigation, deploying intelligence assets and conducting forensic analysis of the telephone number used by the suspects to demand a ransom of N1,000,000 from the victim's family. In a statement released on Saturday, the ministry said it has intensified efforts to contain the outbreak and urged parents, caregivers, schools and community leaders to take immediate steps to protect children, who are considered the most vulnerable to the disease. According to the ministry, diphtheria is a highly contagious bacterial infection that primarily affects the nose and throat. It spreads through coughing, sneezing, close contact with infected individuals or by sharing contaminated personal items. Health officials warned that children who are unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated are at the greatest risk of developing severe complications, which can be fatal if left untreated. The Nigeria Customs Service has arrested a suspected wildlife trafficker and rescued a captive baby gorilla during a raid in Kofar Mata, Kano State.

  The arrest and rescue was made by NCS Special Wildlife Office of the Customs Intelligence Unit alongside Focused Conservation, the Customs Police Unit and officers of the Kano/Jigawa Area Command. According to the Officer-in-Charge of the NCS Special Wildlife Office, Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Anuhu Mani, the officers rescued infant gorilla had been transferred to veterinary care and is receiving specialised medical attention and rehabilitation.” Mani said the operation targeted syndicates involved in the illicit trade and supply of protected primates within the Kano axis, adding that the success of the raid demonstrated the value of intelligence-driven operations and collaboration with conservation partners.   “Investigations are actively ongoing as we follow all actionable leads generated from this operation” he said

Others were the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Adeola Ajayi; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed; Special Adviser to the President on Homeland Security, Major General Adeyinka Famadewa (retd.); and the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunde Disu, along with other representatives of the security agencies.

 The arrest was made following credible intelligence received by the Command regarding the activities of a suspect in possession of an item suspected to be a human skull. Acting swiftly on the information, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed a joint operation involving operatives of the Command and the Amotekun Corps. During the operation, one Shittu Isah of Kajola Area, Ijio, was successfully apprehended, while the item suspected to be a human sk&ll was recovered and secured as an exhibit. The suspect was immediately taken into police custody for further investigation.   The accident occurred around the Ganaja Village Roundabout in Lokoja on Thursday, July 9,  2026.      According to eyewitness accounts, the victims included a baby, the driver conveying a deceased person’s body, and another family member who was accompanying the corpse.      They were all reported to have d!ed instantly after the vehicle transporting the body rammed into a trailer.     The cause of the crash has not yet been officially confirmed, while relevant authorities are expected to commence an investigation into the incident.

  The Court of Appeal sitting in Ilorin has upheld the d3ath sentence imposed on an Islamic cleric Abdulrahman Bello for the m8rder of Hafsoh Yetunde Lawal, a student of the Kwara State College of Education, dismissing his appeal and affirming the judgment of the lower court.   In the judgment delivered by a three-member panel led by Justice Gabriel Omoniyi Kolawole, the appellate court held that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that Bello committed the offence of m8rder and was also guilty of unlawful possession of human parts.     The court ruled that the trial court properly evaluated the evidence presented before it and arrived at the correct conclusion, leaving no basis to interfere with either the conviction or the sentence.   "The appeal lacks merit," the court held, affirming Bello's conviction and the sentence of d3ath by hanging handed down by the trial court.   Bello was convicted for the gruesome k!lling of Lawal, who was reporte...
