  A Congolese man, Rev. Dr. Kamwenda Mukala, who is married to a South African woman, has penned a deeply moving post on how xenophobia has affected the mental health of his son as the deadline set by anti-migrant activists for foreigners to leave South Africa approaches.      Anti-migrant group March and March, opposition party ActionSA and others have set June 30, 2026 as the deadline for “undocumented migrants” to leave the country.     According to Mukala, his son on Tuesday, June 16, asked if he will also be leaving him and his mother since South Africans no longer want foreigners in their country.     Dr. Mukala said the question, which broke his heart, highlights the trauma and fear that xenophobia, violent rhetoric, actions, and attitudes of certain individuals have created in innocent children born from African parents of different nationalities.  Read his post below:    Dad Congolese Mom South African Son: Congo South Afri...

  Thousands of demonstrators recently took to the streets across several of South Africa’s major cities to protest against immigration, amid rising tensions and renewed concerns over xenophobic violence.     According to Sky News, crowds gathered in key urban centres, voicing frustration over what they described as the growing strain on public resources. Protesters accused undocumented migrants of taking jobs, accessing limited healthcare, and placing additional pressure on housing and other essential services.   The demonstrations come against the backdrop of ongoing xenophobic attacks that have periodically flared up in parts of the country.   Watch the video below.  

  As the Xenophobic attacks continue in South Africa, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has asked Nigerians residing in the country to shut their businesses and avoid confrontations. The advisory comes amid growing anti-foreigner protests across South Africa, where some of the indigenes have called for the expulsion of foreigners in their countries and the close of foreign businesses in their country. In a statement released, NiDCOM said the advisory follows a circular from the consulate-general of Nigeria in Johannesburg on Wednesday. According to the commission, protests in East London, Cape Town, Durban, and KwaZulu-Natal have turned violent, leading to looting, destruction of property, and injuries.
