Ondo Health Tech Students Shut Down Campus in Protest Over Alleged Extortion and Decaying Facilities
Students of the Ondo State College of Health Technology, Akure (CHTA), on Monday, January 19, 2026, paralysed academic activities at the institution in a massive protest against alleged extortion by school authorities and the deplorable state of infrastructure. Hundreds of students gathered at the main gate as early as 7 a.m., barricading the entrance with bonfires of tyres and chanting solidarity songs. They displayed placards with inscriptions such as “We Are Tired of This Wickedness,” “Health Tech With Poor Environment,” and “Stop Extortion Now!” to highlight their grievances.
