A man in China swallowed a metal chopstick while eating dinner eight years ago

According to a jaw-dropping hospital case study published in March, the “alcoholic” patient, identified only as Mr. Wang, went in for a check-up shortly after gulping down the five-inch utensil in 2018 but refused to have it removed.   Wang, 46, didn’t want doctors to cut his neck open at the time, so he lived with the discomfort for years, the South China Morning Post reported.   It became increasingly harder for him to swallow several weeks ago, so he asked doctors at Dalian Municipal Central Hospital in Liaoning Province to take a look.   Surgeons performed a minimally invasive operation to remove the obstructive object via Wang’s mouth instead of slicing open his neck, according to the hospital’s report.   “He told us a chopstick was trapped in his throat,” said Dr. Huang Weipeng.   “I thought it happened just now, but he said this was eight years ago.”   His vocal cords and nearby mucous membrane were luckily not injured and functioned...

Under the agreement, GCL Group will extract and deliver natural gas primarily from Ethiopia's Calub gas field in the Ogaden Basin. The gas will be transported via a dedicated 108-kilometer pipeline directly to the fertilizer plant, ...

British counter-terrorism police arrested three men on Wednesday on suspicion of assisting a foreign intelligence service, with reports identifying one as the husband of a Labour Member of Parliament. The arrests, carried out in London and Wales, are linked to alleged spying activities for China and potential targeting of UK democracy. The Metropolitan Police stated that the suspects—aged 39, 43, and 68—were detained under Section 3 of the National Security Act 2023 for allegedly assisting a foreign intelligence service. All three remain in custody, and searches have been conducted at related addresses as part of an ongoing investigation. UK media outlets, including the BBC, The Guardian, and others, reported that the 39-year-old suspect is David Taylor, husband of Joani Reid, the Labour MP for East Kilbride and Strathaven in Scotland. Reid, elected in 2024, issued a statement denying any personal involvement or knowledge of wrongdoing: "I have never seen anything to make me sus...
