US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly had a tense phone conversation over the future of the ongoing Iran conflict, exposing growing differences between Washington and Tel Aviv on how to proceed.   According to a new CNN report, sources familiar with the discussion say Trump and Netanyahu spoke multiple times in recent days as tensions surrounding Iran continued to rise. During an earlier conversation, Trump reportedly informed the Israeli leader that the United States was considering launching new targeted military strikes against Iran early in the week under an operation reportedly named “Operation Sledgehammer.” However, less than 24 hours later, Trump unexpectedly announced that the planned strikes would be paused following requests from Gulf allies including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Diplomats from the region have since been working closely with US and Pakistani mediators to explore a possible diplomat...

US President Donald Trump has shared an AI-generated image of himself and members of his cabinet relaxing in the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool, drawing attention online as plans for the site’s renovation move forward. The edited image, posted on his Truth Social platform, shows Trump floating in a gold inflatable chair giving a thumbs up, alongside Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum also appears in the mock-up. The post appears to reference an ongoing renovation project at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, where the government is reportedly spending $1.5 million to repair leaks in the granite foundation and apply a new bright blue coating ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations. Trump criticised the previous administration while announcing the work, writing: “Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and I are working on fixing the absolutely filthy Reflecting Pool… This work was supposed to be done by t...

Florida Legislature Approves Renaming Palm Beach International Airport to President Donald J. Trump International Airport

Image
Florida's Republican-controlled House of Representatives passed the measure (HB 919) on Tuesday with an 81-30 vote, largely along party lines. The state Senate followed on Thursday (February 19, 2026), approving it 25-11, with all opposition coming from Democrats. The bill renames the airport President Donald J. Trump International Airport. The legislation now heads to Governor Ron DeSantis for his signature—he is widely expected to sign it into law, despite past political tensions with Trump. However, the name change is not final: it requires approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which oversees airport naming and designations for air traffic control purposes. The airport, located in West Palm Beach, serves as a major hub in South Florida and is frequently used by Trump for travel to and from his nearby Mar-a-Lago estate. The Trump Organization recently filed trademark applications for variations of the name (including "President Donald J. Trump Internatio...

Trump’s envoys recall: U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria ends tour of duty

Image
US. Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, has ended his tour of duty in the country following President Donald Trump’s recall of about 30 U.S. envoys from countries globally. Amb. Mills was confirmed as U.S. ambassador to Nigeria nearly two years ago in May, 2024. “Ambassador Mills led the U.S. Mission in strengthening relationship with Nigeria for the last year and a half. “Current Deputy Chief of Mission Keith Heffern will serve as Charge d’Affaires, a.i. until further notice,” the U.S. Mission in Nigeria said on Tuesday. Trump announced the comprehensive diplomatic shake-up in  December, 2025, affecting many U.S. envoys, including Mills, whose tour of duty officially ended on Friday. Unlike typical transitions where political appointees resign, this move was considered highly unusual because it abruptly removed career diplomats, who usually remain in place for continuity. The affected diplomats, most of whom were career Foreign Service officers, who were appointed during ...
