Tragic Accident at Badagry Roundabout: LASTMA Officer and Two Others Killed by Out-of-Control Dangote Truck
A devastating road accident at the busy Badagry Roundabout, inward Seme along the Badagry–Seme Expressway, claimed the lives of a dedicated Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officer and two other individuals on Monday, February 23, 2026. The incident involved a fully loaded SHACMAN cement truck reportedly owned by the Dangote Group. According to preliminary investigations by LASTMA and eyewitness accounts, the truck was traveling at excessive speed when it suffered a catastrophic brake failure, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered off its lane, striking the LASTMA officer who was on duty regulating traffic at the roundabout. It then hit a pedestrian (or motorcyclist, per varying reports) at the scene before continuing for about 200 meters and fatally injuring another person.
