The drama stems from the chaotic final match on January 18, 2026, in Rabat, Morocco. Senegal, the Teranga Lions, secured a 1-0 extra-time victory over the Atlas Lions. However, late in stoppage time, a controversial penalty was awarded to Morocco, prompting Senegal's players to walk off the pitch in protest for approximately 14 minutes without referee authorization.
