AFCON 2025: Mane Wins MVP Award, Diaz Top Scorer

Senegal forward Sadio Mane was named Most Valuable Player, MVP, at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. 

Mane registered two goals,and four assists in six appearances for the Terangha Lions in the competition.

The 33-year-old played a crucial role in Senegal’s 1-0 final victory over hosts Morocco.

The former Liverpool star set up Pape Gueye for the winning goal in extra time.

Morocco winger, Brahim Diaz won the top scorer award with five goals.

Diaz’s teammate, Yassine Bounou was named Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

Morocco also went home with the Fair Play award.

  Nigerian Army troops operating under Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected spy linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the Kanama area of Yunusari Local Government Area, Yobe State. The suspect, identified in some reports as Malam Fantami (a native of Dikwa in Borno State), was apprehended on or around March 30 by troops of the 159 Battalion in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). The arrest was based on credible intelligence indicating that he was acting as an informant for terrorists affiliated with ISWAP, potentially providing intelligence or logistical support to insurgent elements in the North-East. Another recent report from April 2, 2026, identified the suspect as 23-year-old Isah Mahammadu, a native of Kafetowa village in Yunusari LGA.
