The Bayelsa State Government has approved the appointment of 18 new Permanent Secretaries into the state's civil service. This move, announced on February 23, 2026, aims to strengthen the administrative framework, boost efficiency, and improve service delivery across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

Governor Senator Douye Diri gave the approval, as confirmed in a statement by the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission, Mr. Buruboyefe Perekiye John. The appointments are merit-based and align with efforts to enhance governance and support the administration's development agenda.
