Enugu Air Boosts Fleet with New Embraer 195 Delivery, Eyes Expanded Routes and Capacity

 

Enugu Air, the state-owned airline operated by XEJET Limited, has taken delivery of a new Embraer 195 aircraft, marking a significant milestone in its rapid fleet expansion and commitment to enhancing air travel connectivity in Nigeria.

The arrival of the Embraer 195 — a modern, efficient narrow-body jet known for its reliability, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort — was proudly announced by the airline on its official channels. "We are proud to welcome our newest aircraft, the Embraer 195, powered by XEJET," Enugu Air stated. "Under the leadership of Governor Peter Mbah, Enugu Air continues to grow. More aircraft to come. More routes. More opportunities to fly."

Launched in July 2025, Enugu Air initially commenced operations with Embraer regional jets, serving key domestic routes including Enugu–Abuja and Enugu–Lagos. The addition of this latest aircraft strengthens the carrier's operational capacity, allowing for increased frequency on existing routes, potential new destinations within Nigeria, and improved service reliability for passengers.

The Embraer 195, with its capacity for around 100-120 passengers depending on configuration, aligns with Enugu Air's vision of providing safe, affordable, and convenient air travel that "feels like home." The airline emphasized that this acquisition is part of a broader growth strategy supported by Governor Peter Mbah's administration, which aims to position Enugu as a regional aviation hub and drive economic development through better connectivity.

Enugu Air's fleet expansion comes amid plans for further additions, with earlier reports indicating intentions to incorporate multiple Embraer aircraft to scale operations. This move reflects growing confidence in Nigeria's domestic aviation sector and the state's push to create jobs, support business travel, and facilitate easier access for the diaspora.
