Nigerian Troops Neutralise Two Suspected Terrorists, Recover AK-47 and Ammunition in Ondo Operation

Troops of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully neutralised two suspected armed terrorists during a tactical security operation in Ondo State, recovering an AK-47 rifle and other items.

The operation took place on February 14, 2026, along the Akunu–Auga road in Akoko North-East Local Government Area. Troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Auga acted on credible intelligence about criminal elements terrorising the area.

According to a statement by Major Irabor Njoka, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 32 Artillery Brigade, the troops swiftly mobilised and intercepted the suspects. This led to a firefight where the troops' superior firepower neutralised two of the terrorists, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.

The joint effort involved personnel from the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) and local vigilantes, highlighting collaborative security measures in the region.

The Nigerian Army emphasised that the success of the operation underscores its commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action and ensuring the safety of citizens in Ondo State and beyond.
