The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a renewed warning to Nigerians regarding visa fraud and overstays, cautioning that such violations could lead to heightened scrutiny and stricter processing for all future visa applicants from the country.

In recent statements shared on its official X account (formerly Twitter), the U.S. Mission emphasized that actions like submitting false information, using fake documents, misrepresenting facts, or overstaying authorized periods of stay undermine the integrity of the visa system. Officials stated: “Those who seek to commit visa fraud bring increased scrutiny on all visa applicants.
