A defence source described the outcome as a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of joint ground and air operations in the theatre, dealing a major blow to the insurgents’ capabilities amid ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the North East.

The incident comes amid heightened insurgent activity in parts of Borno, though Nigerian forces have continued to record successes in repelling attacks and degrading terrorist networks through sustained operations.

No casualties were reported on the side of the troops in this particular engagement. Further details and possible recovery of arms or equipment are expected as operations continue in the area.
