FUDMA Rusticates 20 Students Over Exam Malpractice, Enforces Strict 75% Attendance Rule

 The recent disciplinary action at the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State has made headlines, with the university's Senate approving the rustication of 20 students found guilty of various forms of examination malpractice.

This decision was reached during the institution's 138th Regular Senate Meeting, held on Wednesday at the Twin Theatre on the main campus in Dutsin-Ma. The announcement came via a statement from the university's Director of Information and Protocol, Nasiru Abdul, issued on Thursday.

Rustication, in this context, typically means temporary expulsion or suspension from the university for a specified period, as a penalty for academic misconduct. The university emphasized its zero-tolerance stance on cheating and other irregularities during examinations, reinforcing measures to maintain academic integrity.

In the same vein, the institution has also enforced a strict 75% attendance policy for students to be eligible to sit for examinations, underscoring broader efforts to uphold standards and deter malpractice.

This crackdown serves as a strong reminder to students across Nigerian tertiary institutions that examination integrity is non-negotiable, with severe consequences for violations.
