 In a display of tactical superiority and unwavering resolve, troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled multiple coordinated terrorist attempts to overrun military positions in Borno State.

The attacks, launched under cover of night by elements linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), targeted troops' locations in Konduga, Marte, Jakana, and Mainok. The engagements, which intensified into fierce gun battles lasting several hours, saw the insurgents employing aggressive tactics in a bid to overwhelm the defenders.

According to a statement from the Headquarters Joint Task Force, signed by Media Information Officer Lt Col Sani Uba, troops responded decisively with simultaneous flanking maneuvers supported by reinforcement teams from Sectors 1 and 2. The counter-offensive routed the attackers, forcing them into chaotic withdrawals.

“During the fierce engagements, several terrorist leaders, including key Amirs, were neutralised while a number of insurgent fighters were eliminated,” the statement read.

The military acknowledged the heavy price paid by its personnel: “Regrettably, a number of brave soldiers paid the supreme price in the line of duty, including a gallant officer who fought courageously from the front while leading his troops against the attackers.”
