Paul Okoye Labels Viral Reports of Accuser's Six-Year Sentence as "Fake News"

 

Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy of the defunct P-Square duo, has strongly denied circulating reports claiming that the woman who accused him of rape and abusing minors has been sentenced to six years in prison.

The reports, which gained traction on social media on Thursday, March 5, 2026, alleged that the X user known as @chubbiedivah (reportedly Ayomide Agboola or Victoria Ayomide Agboola) was convicted and imprisoned for six or seven years for making false accusations against the singer. Some posts claimed the sentencing occurred "this morning" and described it as a victory against false accusers.

In response, Paul Okoye took to his Instagram Stories to dismiss the claims outright, labeling them as "fake news." He clarified that no such sentencing has taken place.

The controversy traces back to September 2025, when @chubbiedivah commented under a post celebrating the birthday of Paul's wife, Ivy Ifeoma. The comment escalated into serious allegations, claiming Paul had raped or coerced a domestic worker (described as "way younger") and abused a minor. Paul vehemently denied the claims at the time, vowing to pursue legal action and use all available resources to hold the accuser accountable, stating he would make an example of her.

Subsequent updates from late 2025 indicated that the woman was reportedly arrested on November 6, 2025, detained, and charged in court for defamation or false accusations. Sources suggested Paul pursued the matter quietly to avoid influencing the process through public sympathy. Court appearances were scheduled, with some reports of health-related delays and rescheduling into December 2025.

However, as of March 2026, no confirmed sentencing has occurred, and Paul's denial aligns with the absence of official court records or verified news confirming imprisonment. The viral posts appear to stem from unverified social media claims, including variations claiming a seven-year sentence.
