Suspected Political Thugs Disrupt ADC Young Women Forum Maiden Meeting in Rivers' Eleme

Suspected political thugs disrupted the maiden meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Young Women Forum on Friday in Eleme Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers.

The incident occurred on Friday in the Eleme Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State, Nigeria. Suspected political thugs stormed the venue in Alesa, Eleme, disrupting the maiden meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Young Women Forum.

The attackers dispersed supporters and vandalized property, including canopies, loudspeakers, chairs, and other equipment set up for the event. Reports indicate the disruption was justified by the thugs on claims that the organizers lacked prior approval and that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had not authorized political activities at that time.

One account from an ADC participant described the thugs as being led by a ward councillor (name withheld), who forcibly ended the gathering intended to inaugurate the Young Women Forum in the LGA.

This event highlights ongoing tensions in Nigeria's political landscape ahead of future elections, where opposition or emerging party activities sometimes face interference
