Abia Assembly Condemns Gruesome Discovery of Six Mutilated Young Girls' Bodies on Ukwa East Farmland, Urges Swift Security Action

 The lifeless and mutilated bodies of six young girls were discovered dumped on a community farmland in Akirika Ukwu, Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State, sparking widespread fear and panic among residents.

The shocking incident came to light during Tuesday’s plenary session of the Abia State House of Assembly, when Hon. Lewis Chinemerem Obianyi, member representing Ukwa East Constituency, raised it as a matter of urgent public importance.

According to Hon. Obianyi, the mutilated bodies were found on the farmland on Monday, March 23, 2026. He described the killings as “barbaric and disturbing,” noting that they have disrupted farming activities and normal life in the area. The lawmaker alleged that the act bears the hallmarks of ritual killings and called on the Assembly to intervene urgently.

He urged relevant security agencies to launch a thorough investigation, track down the perpetrators, and bring them to justice without delay to restore confidence among farmers and villagers.

Reacting to the alert, the Abia State House of Assembly unanimously condemned the heinous crime, describing it as unacceptable and a serious threat to public safety. Lawmakers urged the state government to direct all heads of security agencies in Abia to intensify efforts toward uncovering and apprehending those responsible.

The Assembly also emphasized the need to strengthen security surveillance, especially in rural communities, to prevent a recurrence of such incidents. It reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, while appealing to members of the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information to aid investigations.
