Prominent Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has issued a strong warning to former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stating that she will actively oppose him if he attempts to serve beyond a single four-year term as president.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, April 6, 2026, Yesufu, a vocal supporter of Obi and co-convener of the #BringBackOurGirls campaign, stressed the importance of integrity and sticking to one's word in leadership.

“If Mr. Peter Obi gets into office and decides to do more than one term, I, Aisha Yesufu, said it here, I will oppose him with everything in me because he gave his word, and if he has given his word, he has to stick to his word,” she declared.76a492

Yesufu noted that Obi’s commitment to a one-term presidency predates the 2023 general elections and has been consistent. She recalled pressing him on the issue even after the polls and receiving reaffirmation of his stance.
