Bloody Easter in Benue: At Least 17 Killed as Gunmen Attack Mbalom Community in Gwer East

 Tragedy marred Easter celebrations in Benue State as suspected armed assailants, widely described by residents as herders or gunmen, stormed Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area, killing at least 17 people and razing several homes.

Eyewitnesses and local sources reported that the attackers invaded the community on Easter Sunday without warning, opening fire on residents and setting houses ablaze. Many bodies were reportedly recovered, while others remain missing as search efforts continue in surrounding bushes and areas. Mbalom, a predominantly farming and Christian community, was observing Easter when the assault occurred.
