Idris Elba knighted by King Charles for anti-knife crime work (photos)


King Charles, Princess Anne and Prince William exclusively helm the ceremonies, handing out knighthoods, damehoods and other recognitions after lists of honorees are announced twice a year. 

Idris has been championed for his community empowerment and devotion to educational projects. 

He founded the Elba Hope Foundation in 2022, which promotes grassroots action and sustainable development. 

The star is no stranger to royal accolades, having received a grant from the Prince’s Trust (now King’s Trust) at the age of 18 to attend the National Youth Music Theatre.

A shocking video shows a woman plunging down a manhole after the cover unexpectedly gave way

 The shocking incident occurred in Brazil just two weeks after Westchester grandmother Donike Gocaj, 56, di£d from falling down a manhole in Midtown Manhattan.  The footage from Brazil shows Fabiana Rosa, 32, staring at her phone while walking down a quiet street in Rio de Janeiro soon after getting off a motorbike taxi on Sunday, May 31.. She steps on a covered manhole, only for the cover to flip up, sending her plummeting straight into the drainage system below.     The motorbike taxi driver who had just dropped her off is seen immediately running back to the scene as passersby rush over to help.  Emergency services eventually managed to pull her to safety.   “I thought I was going to di£, because the water was hitting my chest and the hole was very deep,” Rosa told Brazilian media after being taken to a nearby hospital.   She was struck by the manhole cover as she fell, suffering injuries across her body.   The cover was incorrectly positioned ...
