Ogun Court Remands Doctor for Issuing Fake Medical Report to Aid Blogger Just Adetoun Evade Police

 A medical doctor has been remanded in prison custody by an Ogun State Magistrates' Court following allegations that he issued a fraudulent medical report. The document was purportedly used to help popular social media blogger and activist Adetoun Onajobi, widely known as @justadetoun, avoid honoring a police invitation.

According to a statement from the Ogun State Government, released through the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, the doctor was arrested after police investigations revealed the medical report was fabricated. The doctor reportedly confessed that he never examined, treated, or even met Onajobi, and that the report was created at her direction during a phone conversation facilitated by her lawyer.

The controversy stems from a broader case involving cyberbullying charges against Onajobi. The Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count charge against her at the Federal High Court in Abeokuta for alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015. These charges relate to her online publications accusing the Ogun State Government and Governor Dapo Abiodun of falsehoods, including claims that there were no ambulance services in the state and that the governor was absent in Ghana "partying and impregnating women" during an incident involving boxing champion Anthony Joshua's accident in the state.

Authorities described these allegations as false, malicious, and capable of endangering public safety by misleading residents about available emergency medical resources. Ogun State operates multiple state-owned and supported ambulance services, the statement emphasized.

Police invited Onajobi for questioning on January 5, 2026 (following an initial notice on January 2), but she failed to appear, reportedly going into hiding. She later released a video claiming illness, and her lawyer submitted the now-discredited medical report to excuse her absence.

The doctor faces charges including conspiracy, uttering a false document, and obstructing the course of justice. Investigations continue to identify any other accomplices, while Onajobi remains at large and is considered evasive by the police.

The Attorney General questioned the blogger's credibility, noting that someone who previously boasted of having evidence to support her claims has neither presented it to authorities nor made it public. The statement also referenced prior allegations of Onajobi bullying individuals online, including unlawfully filming and sharing images of an underage child in Lagos.

This development highlights ongoing efforts by the Ogun State Government and Police Command to address cybercrimes, including the spread of false information and attempts to obstruct justice. The case remains under active investigation, with authorities committed to ensuring accountability while respecting constitutional rights.
