Ondo Police Bust 25-Year-Old Fake Doctor Running Illegal Clinic in Ore, Vow Crackdown on Quackery

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old suspected quack doctor, Idris Nasiru, for allegedly operating an unlicensed medical facility in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest occurred on January 14, 2026, following credible intelligence that prompted a swift, intelligence-led raid by the police surveillance team. Operatives stormed the makeshift clinic, where Nasiru was reportedly treating unsuspecting residents without any medical qualifications.

Preliminary investigations confirmed that the suspect is not a registered medical practitioner with relevant authorities, establishing that the clinic was being run illegally and endangering public health.

The suspect has been taken into custody, where he has reportedly made useful statements. He will be charged to court upon completion of ongoing investigations.
In a statement, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their prompt and professional conduct. He stressed the critical role of intelligence-led policing in disrupting such dangerous criminal activities and reiterated the Command's unwavering commitment to eradicating quackery across Ondo State.

CP Lawal also acknowledged the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for ongoing reforms that have bolstered intelligence-driven operations and enhanced nationwide crime prevention efforts.

The police urged residents to exercise caution when seeking medical care and to promptly report any suspicious or unlicensed practitioners. They warned that quack doctors pose severe risks to lives and public health, calling for community vigilance and cooperation in the fight against medical fraud.
This latest arrest forms part of the Ondo State Police Command's intensified efforts to protect citizens from unqualified individuals posing as healthcare providers, ensuring safer access to genuine medical services in the state.
