Tinubu Hosts USAFRICOM Chief in Abuja: Nigeria, US Strengthen Security Ties Against Regional Threats

 President Bola Tinubu on Sunday received a high-level United States military delegation at the State House (Aso Rock) in Abuja, in a meeting focused on strengthening bilateral security cooperation amid ongoing regional challenges.

The delegation was led by General Dagvin R. Anderson, Commander of the United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM), and included the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, Keith Heffern, along with other senior members such as Command Sergeant Major Garric M. Banfield and Senior Foreign Policy Adviser Ambassador Peter Vrooman.

President Tinubu welcomed the visitors alongside Nigeria's National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the nation's service chiefs. The engagement underscores efforts to deepen collaboration between Nigeria and the United States on counterterrorism, regional stability, and security partnerships in West Africa.

Official statements described the audience as a key opportunity to discuss shared priorities in addressing insecurity and enhancing mutual defense capabilities.
