The UK government has updated its Student visa guidance, confirming that citizens of few African countries, including ( can apply for a UK Student visa without submitting proof of funds at the time of application under its differential evidence requirement. The arrangement allows eligible applicants to omit documentary evidence of their finances when submitting their initial visa application. However, applicants must still satisfy the UK’s financial requirements, and UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) reserves the right to request financial documents before making a decision on an application.

Nigerian students, however, are not included in the scheme. This means applicants from Nigeria are generally expected to be ready to provide financial evidence as part of their Student visa application.
